Post Operative Lymphatic Care
This is an advanced, post-graduate level course for therapists who already have a solid foundation in manual lymphatic drainage.

It builds on your existing knowledge and takes you into the practical, real-world application of working with post-surgical clients.

You will learn how to:
-
Support the body safely following surgery
-
Adapt lymphatic drainage techniques for different stages of healing
-
Understand swelling, inflammation and fluid dynamics post-surgery
-
Work around incisions, fibrosis and healing tissue
-
Communicate confidently with clients who may feel vulnerable or anxious
-
Recognise when to treat, modify or refer

This is not a routine-based course.
It is designed to help you think, assess and adapt your work in a safe and informed way.

A Realistic Approach

Post-operative work is often presented online as quick results and visual transformations.
In practice, it is slower, more considered, and requires a deeper level of responsibility.
Clients may arrive feeling:

-
Physically uncomfortable
-
Emotionally vulnerable
-
Unsure of what is normal in their recovery

Your role is not just to perform a treatment, but to create a space where they feel supported, safe and informed.

This training reflects the reality of that work.

How the Course Works

Online Theory
You will be provided with learning materials to support your understanding of post-operative care, healing processes and treatment considerations.

Practical Training Day
A hands-on training day focused on real application, technique adaptation and building confidence in working with post-surgical clients.
We focus on:

-
Safe positioning and comfort
-
Adapting techniques for healing tissue
-
Working with swelling and fibrosis
-
Professional boundaries and communication

Case Study Submission
You will complete a case study to support your transition from training into real client work, ensuring you feel confident and supported as you begin.

Prerequisites

This course is not suitable for beginners.
You must have:

-
A recognised manual lymphatic drainage qualification
-
Confidence in delivering full lymphatic treatments
-
An understanding of contraindications and safe practice

Courses such as sculpting or “lymphatic-style” treatments without full lymphatic training are not sufficient preparation for this course.

Who This Course Is For

This training is suitable for therapists who:
-
Already practise manual lymphatic drainage
-
Want to expand into post-operative care
-
Are ready to work with more complex client needs
-
Are comfortable working with healing tissue, swelling and visible trauma
-
Value a thoughtful, informed approach to treatment

Who This Course May Not Be For

This course may not be the right fit if you:
-
Are new to lymphatic drainage
-
Are uncomfortable working with post-surgical clients
-
Prefer routine-based treatments
-
Are looking for quick or surface-level techniques

This training requires both professional responsibility and emotional awareness.

Your Learning Experience

This course is built from real clinical experience.
At The Secret Garden Rooms, post-operative care is a core part of our work. We support clients through different stages of recovery, often when they feel at their most vulnerable.
This experience shapes how this training is delivered.

You will learn not only how to treat—but how to hold space, communicate clearly, and work safely within your scope of practice.
